2007 Outstanding Graduate in Petroleum Engineering
Kevin Smith
Kevin Smith graduated from Union High School in Tulsa, OK in 2003, then came to TU and received a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering in 2007.
He is currently a reservoir engineer in the Texas Panhandle Exploration Region at Cimarex Energy. He joined the company in 2005 as an engineer intern in the Gulf Coast Exploration Region. Prior to Cimarex, Kevin worked for Vintage and ChevronTexaco.
Kevin enjoys playing drums, piano, reading, a medium rare steak, and winning fantasy football leagues. He currently resides in Tulsa, OK and is pictured here with his girlfriend, Karen Feiock.

Why did you choose TU?
TU’s PE Department has a great reputation and a very persuasive Department Chairman. Also, attending college in Tulsa gave me the opportunity to intern during the school year.
Did TU prepare you well for your career?
Yes, TU gave me a solid foundation in basic science and mathematics and that is a big competitive advantage in any engineering discipline.
