Godo moved to Tulsa from Peru in 1982 to pursue a degree in petroleum engineering. Nine years later he graduated from TU with a B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees all in petroleum engineering. In the last four years, Godo has been working as a reservoir engineer for BP Gulf of Mexico Deep Water Developments business unit in Houston. His work includes appraisal of new fields in deep water, development of field depletion plans and evaluation of reserves. This is one of the biggest growth areas in a very challenging environment which relies in the application of state of art in field development technologies. Before, Godo worked for BP Indonesia for four years as a reservoir engineer in the Tangguh LNG project. This job involved working on the plan of development and carbon dioxide sequestration modeling. Prior to BP Indonesia, Godo worked for ARCO Exploration and Production Technology in Plano, Texas for nine years as a reservoir engineer. His work included geostatistics, reservoir description and modeling support for business units, geostatistics research and training on the application of geostatistics. In the early nineties, he was recruited by Dr. Kelkar as the co-author of the book Applied Geostatistics for Reservoir Characterization. After six years of writing, revising and editing the book was published by SPE. Godo married his high school sweetheart Michele and they have two sons Sebastian and Andres who are eight and six years old, respectively. They live in Katy, Texas. In his spare time, he helps coach his kid’s baseball teams and plays golf. Godo in his own words: Why did you choose TU? I have been in the oil patch all my life so petroleum engineering was a natural choice. I choose TU for its reputation as a top petroleum engineering school and highly regarded academic staff. Any fond memories you would like to share? I have many fond memories of TU. As a reservoir engineer I often came across memories from the classroom from gas engineering to multiphase flow in pipes and recall the teachings from Dr. kelkar, Dr. Raghavan, Dr. Shoham, Dr. Brill, Dr. Guerrero and Dr. Reynolds. Looking back TU had one of the most international student populations that I have seen. When I had to travel to different parts of the world I always find somebody that I meet from TU. |
