Why did I choose TU: The answer is just simple: In the TU Petroleum Engineering’s fall of 1987 brochure portrayed big name professors - Dr. Kermit Brown, Dr. Rajagopal Raghavan, Dr. E.T. Guerrero, Dr. Sylvester, Dr. James P. Brill, Dr. Zelimir Schmidt, and Dr. J.J. Azar Did TU prepare you well for your career? TU played a major role in my life in expanding my horizon toward the international standard of excellence. The exposures that I had at TU, has made me recognize the importance of quality education. I have been very fortunate to have been able to influence the system within BPMIGAS and set its standard to compete with international market. I have also been extremely fortunate to receive continuous support from TU Petroleum Engineering faculties in introducing my hydrocarbon physical correlations worldwide. I have gained unimaginable international recognition to be a reputable technical engineer. Fond memories about TU: I nearly missed my first final exam at TU, which was Production Design. The class was taught by Dr. Ovadia Shoham and it was a Tuesday-Thursday Class. It was snowing the weekend before the examination day. It was my first experience with snow and I was in a deep sleep enjoying the cold snowy weather. Since it was a Tuesday –Thursday class I thought the exam date was Tuesday. But it wasn’t. I didn’t check the exam schedule properly. The exam was on Monday. So, as soon as I found out that morning, I immediately rushed to Keplinger Hall through the thick pile of snow. But I was late. Luckily for me, out of his generosity, Dr. Shoham gave me a chance to have “a late” exam. All our children graduated from TU with bachelors and masters - Gayatri P. Kartoatmodjo, Bachelor of Science and Master Engineering in Petroleum Engineering; Imaduddin H. Bimo Kartoatmodjo, Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering And Master of Science in Geophysics; and Izuddin T. Abimanyu Kartoatmodjo, Bachelor of Science in CIS and Master of Information Systems and Accounting |
